The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, has officially launched the President Bola Tinubu Support Group 2027 in Makurdi, Benue State.

Akume, who was represented by Senator Jacob Gyado at the event, emphasized that Tinubu has gained the trust of Nigerians through the enactment of policies and initiatives that significantly affect the populace.

He expressed confidence that Benue and the entire North-Central region would strongly back Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

“The Tiv people also need a political leader; the youths should wait for their turn. You cannot start school today and become a professor immediately. When the time is right, we will engage with you,” he remarked.

“I have successfully produced three governors consecutively and several senators. Any astute politician should know whom to follow.”

Senator Titus Zam, representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, commended Tinubu for appointing the first-ever SGF from the North-Central region, noting that this decision showcases the president’s inclusive leadership approach.

“Tinubu is the best thing that has happened to this nation. Nigerian students are already testifying that, as recipients of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, they can now access funds to pay their tuition fees,” he stated.

“With the removal of the fuel subsidy, governors now have access to billions monthly to implement projects in their respective states. The benefits are numerous,” he added.

In his goodwill message, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen—represented by Dickson Tarkigir (Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency)—encouraged Nigerian youths to engage in peaceful and constructive politics.

“President Tinubu has a special affection for the people of Benue,” he stated.

Chairman of the Benue APC Elders Council, Chief Simon Shango, lamented the ongoing crisis within the state chapter of the party.

“In my more than 80 years of life, I have never witnessed a scenario where elected state party officials lack a place to work. While other states are enjoying democracy, Benue stands out as an exception. There is a necessity for change in 2027,” Shango remarked.

Earlier, during his welcoming address, the convener, Mr. Mathias Byuan, stated that Benue and the North-Central region have ample reasons to support President Tinubu.

Byuan disclosed that the President has already appointed 24 Benue indigenes to significant federal positions, including that of the SGF.

He praised Tinubu for the ongoing infrastructure projects in the state, which include the Wurukum flyover in Makurdi, the River Buruku bridge, as well as various road and electrification initiatives.
