Integrity and conflicts
Contributors must not plagiarise, fabricate evidence or conceal a material conflict of interest. Gifts, incentives or personal relationships that could affect coverage must be disclosed to an editor.
Fairness and right of reply
People and organisations facing serious criticism should receive a reasonable opportunity to respond when practical. Responses are represented fairly without surrendering independent editorial judgment.
Privacy and harm
Public interest is weighed against avoidable harm, especially when reporting on children, vulnerable people, grief, medical information or private individuals. Graphic or sensitive material requires a clear editorial reason and appropriate warning.
Respect and inclusion
Coverage should avoid discriminatory stereotypes, harassment and dehumanising language. Relevant identity details are included only when they add necessary context.
