VLADIMIR Putin has dismissed the peace proposal put forth by Donald Trump after a heated exchange during Trump's meeting with President Zelensky at the White House.
On Sunday, Trump proposed simply freezing the current situation and accepting that as the new borders, which would require Ukraine to cede significant territory to Russia.

The US President stated on Sunday: “We believe that the best course of action is to halt at the current lines — the battle lines.”
This would effectively grant Putin near-total control of the territory he has insisted on as a prerequisite for concluding the war, except for a small stronghold still held by Ukraine in the Donetsk oblast.
Russia has yet to seize Ukraine’s resilient position but remains adamant that any peace agreement will require its transfer.
Despite Trump’s suggestion offering Putin nearly everything he desires, the unyielding Kremlin has rejected it.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked: “This issue has been raised repeatedly in various forms during discussions between Russia and the US.
“The Russian side has responded each time, and that response is well known: Russia’s position remains consistent.”
It appears that neither side is willing to support Trump’s latest peace initiative.
Meanwhile, Trump has publicly expressed doubt that Ukraine will prevail in the war — after reportedly warning in private that they may not.
During Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s visit to the White House, Trump mentioned: “I don’t think they will [win it].”
However, he added: “They could still win, I never said they wouldn’t… War is unpredictable, and many unfortunate events occur.”
The closed-door meeting at the White House on Sunday concluded with Zelensky being advised to accept Putin’s conditions for ending the conflict, according to sources who spoke to the Financial Times.
They alleged that Trump’s stance had been influenced by a last-minute phone call he had with Putin the day before, which also led to another planned meeting between the US and Russian leaders.
The report indicated that Trump reiterated to Zelensky the points emphasized by Putin — including the demand for Ukraine to surrender the entire Donbas region to conclude the war.
However, Trump insisted on Sunday that he “never discussed” Ukraine giving up additional land, stating he prefers to see new borders established along the current battle lines.
He said: “We believe they should stop at the current battle lines — go home, cease hostilities, and conclude this matter.”

Trump's anticipated meeting with Putin will take place in Budapest in the coming weeks, and Zelensky has indicated he
