In its latest service update , revealed some areas won’t receive their mail on time.

The postal service has confirmed all the postcodes currently affected by delays.

It comes after Royal Mail was handed a £21 million fine in October, 2025, for missing first and second class delivery targets in its last financial year.

Findings showed that just 77% of first class mail and 92.5% of second class were delivered on time in its 2024-25 financial year, short of the service’s respective 93% and 98.5% targets.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week,” the delivery firm has stated.

“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”

Royal Mail added that it also provides “targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive”.

It went on to apologise for “any inconvenience” and thanked customers their understanding.

While Royal Mail’s air and road networks operated as planned during the past 24 hours, the postal service confirmed not all mail was processed and dispatched as planned.

According to the service update, Plymouth Mail Centre is experiencing delays with some mail posted in the PL postcode area yesterday for delivery in other parts of the UK today.

As of Tuesday, March 17, Royal Mail has reported delays across 32 delivery offices, with a knock-on effect for 88 postcode areas.

The on-going delays come ahead of the next month, with First Class raised to £1.80 and Second Class increased to 91p.
