However, Ms. Badenoch argued that the focus should be on increasing police presence in communities, addressing cultures that “do not respect women,” and deporting foreign criminals.
She stated: “These are the kinds of actions that will make a real difference.”
Ms. Badenoch referred to the government's plans as “just a big mess.”
Earlier this week, we reported that indecisive ministers are delaying the publication of transgender guidance for schools this year.
The Education Secretary has not released the advice during her 17 months in office.
She had committed to reviewing the draft guidance issued by the previous Conservative government regarding how schools should engage with students wishing to transition.
In April, Ms. Phillipson informed MPs that she would “publish revised gender-questioning guidance for our schools this year to offer necessary clarification.”
However, The Sun understands that the guidance is unlikely to be released before the New Year due to ongoing negotiations over its content.
Ms. Phillipson expressed dissatisfaction with the previous government's version, which indicated that teachers were not required to permit a student to identify as the opposite sex.
The “gender questioning guidance” stated that “there is no general obligation to allow a child to ‘social transition’” and that parents must be notified.
