Why are Chelsea and Arsenal both playing at 5:30pm?
Chelsea and Arsenal are both playing at 5:30pm on Saturday due to scheduling conflicts around other competitions.
Chelsea vs Newcastle was selected for 5:30pm Sky Sports coverage in the UK, with the Blues set to take on their Champions League round of 16 tie against PSG in a Wednesday-Tuesday combination.
Arsenal will play the same pattern to Chelsea, playing Wednesday-Tuesday rather than vice versa.
Everton’s trip to the Emirates was previously selected for Sky Sports coverage, and was scheduled to Sunday 2pm.
However, the Gunners’ tight Champions League turnaround means the game was pushed back to Saturday 5:30pm.
Coincidentally, the Champions League has also played a big part in TNT Sports’ coverage this weekend.
Man City’s trip to West Ham was scheduled for 12:30pm, but their trip to Real Madrid will take place on Wednesday evening at 8pm instead.
