Published on May 16, 2025 at 01:27 PM

Nigeria’s Falconets will begin their quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a second round tie against Rwanda.

The Falconets were drawn in the first round thanks to their pedigree.

They boasted 44 wins and three draws from previous qualifying campaigns.

Rwanda booked a date with Nigeria after edging past Zimbabwe 2-1 on aggregate in their first qualifying round tie.

They won the first leg 2-1 away in Harare, while the reverse fixture in Kigali ended in a 0-0 draw.

Nigeria and Rwanda will be meeting for the first time at this level.

The first leg will be held on Thursday, 18 September in Kigali, while the reverse fixture will take place in Nigeria on Saturday, 27 September.

Africa will be represented by four countries at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup next year in Poland.
