A SAVVY woman has revealed how she plans to turn her new council house into a home.
Heather Summer, from the UK, was stunned by the state of the when she moved in but others say she’s lucky with its condition.
Taking to social media, Heather said it was her first day cleaning and to make it liveable.
She said: “I’ve been quite lucky because they have actually carpeted, however, as you can see, whoever lived here was a bit of a scruff. So it needs a lot of work.”;
The stairs located directly near her front door were covered in marks along with the walls and handrail.
She then moved into the kitchen which she covered in bleach as she revealed it ‘stinks.’
“Im not one for judging, but it’s disgusting,”; the mum added as she scrubbed down the sink.
“It’s not ideal but it’s council so you can’t moan at that, can you,”; she said.
Heather then moved upstairs, which she said wasn’t as bad, but you could instantly tell whoever lived there before had smoked inside, as it smelled and the walls had a yellow hue to them.
The mum was happy that the council had fitted carpets in her new as it saved her a few hundred quid.
Heather then moved on to painting the walls, doors and radiators to try and cover up the thick yellow stains covering them.
She added: “It’s got to be like years worth of smoking.
“That’s why you don’t smoke in your house.”;
Once she was done with the first layer of paint, Heather decided to call it a day.
The clip went viral on her TikTok account @heathersummerfie4 with over 47k views and 600 likes.
While Heather wasn’t a fan of the condition of the council house, many said she should count herself lucky.
One person wrote: “Omg this council house is actually just not bad considering most are really bad. Count yourself lucky love, you got a home.”;
Another commented: “This council house is actually in really good nick.”;
“You have no idea how lucky you are, I had no kitchen or bathroom, no carpets. I couldn’t live in my council house with my two children for 6 months after I moved in until they put a kitchen and bathroom in,”; penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Trust me, that’s no way near as bad as my council house when I moved in.”;
“That’s a palace compared to some,”; claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “My council house was a mess, no carpets, half walls plastered, very lucky!”;
