ARSENAL manager Mikel Arteta was slammed by controversial TV host Piers Morgan after a surprise tactical switch.

The Gunners suffered another injury blow early into their Premier League clash with West Ham at the London Stadium.

The North Londoners lost Ben White to injury after just 28 minutes and Arteta, 44, replaced him with Martin Zubimendi.

The Spanish tactician then placed Zubimendi in midfield next to Myles Lewis-Skelly and moved fellow midfielder Declan Rice at right-back to fill in for White.

The substitution stunned many Arsenal fans, especially considering centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, who can play at full-back, was on the bench.

Arteta also had left-backs Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori on the pitch.

Morgan, 61, led the protests on social media as he went into meltdown after that decision.

The lifelong Arsenal fan tweeted: “Sorry, what the f*ck is going on? Declan at right back is madness..”

Morgan then went on a tangent demanding Rice’s return in midfield and the inclusion of Mosquera at right-back.

Arteta changed shuffled the cards at half-time as he brought on Mosquera, who replaced Calafiori.

The Spain international was placed at right-back with Lewis-Skelly going at left-back and Rice returning to midfield.

Arsenal hold the upper hand amid an intense Premier League title race with Manchester City.

Arteta’s men travelled to West Ham with a two-point lead ahead of City, who dropped points at Everton last week.

The Gunners are also targeting a maiden Champions League triumph as they made it to he final against reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
