Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has said more than 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Maigatari Local Government Area.
Speaking at a weekly citizens’ engagement programme in Maigatari, Namadi said the new entrants would strengthen APC’s base in the state.
He also disclosed plans to partner with the Federal Government to remodel the Maigatari Export Processing Zone and tackle recurring flooding affecting communities in the area.
Meanwhile, the APC Deputy Chairman in the state, Nasiru Dahiru, reiterated the party’s support for Namadi and cautioned members against acts of sabotage, warning that anyone found working against the administration would face disciplinary action.
