The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has expressed that Nigerians are fatigued by political slogans and empty statistics that do not enhance their everyday lives.

Mark made this statement on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party in Abuja.

He remarked that the ADC was established on the belief that Nigeria can work for everyone and aims to create a party driven by values rather than personalities.

“What distinguishes the ADC is straightforward: we will be a party of purpose and resolve, not mere impulses — an institution that advocates for democratic values and accountability throughout all its branches and governments,” he stated.

Mark identified four essential leadership qualities: character, competence, courage, and discipline, which he asserted will guide the party’s direction.

The former Senate President highlighted that the ADC will foster internal democracy, transparency, and inclusion, emphasizing that the supremacy of the party’s constitution and institutions will take precedence over personal interests.

He introduced a new integrity and performance compact focused on open governance, merit-based appointments, fair elections, citizen-centered service delivery, and the inclusion of special groups such as women, youth, farmers, and individuals with disabilities.

According to him, the ADC will maintain the separation of powers, restore legislative and judicial independence, and ensure that budgets serve the public interest through transparent and accountable planning and auditing.

Mark also underscored the necessity for a merit-driven judiciary that dispenses justice efficiently and impartially, stating that Nigerians deserve outcomes that lead to food security, reliable power supply, job creation, and safety.

“We will concentrate on what works. Nigerians are weary of slogans and statistics that do not contribute to their welfare,” he remarked.

The ADC chairman committed that the party will support farmers, bolster small businesses, and ensure the transparent utilization of public funds to bring about tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
