The M25 has been closed following an accident that resulted in a lorry overturning today.

Drivers in the Surrey area are experiencing significant delays and are being redirected to alternative routes.

The motorway is closed in the anti-clockwise direction between junction 10 (Cobham) and junction 9 (Leatherhead).

All four lanes of the M25 are currently shut.

Surrey Police stated: “Please consider taking an alternative route and avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your understanding.”

Motorists are encouraged to follow the diversion routes indicated by road signs.

The suggested diversion routes are as follows:

  • Exit the M25 at J10 (Wisley Interchange) and take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto the A3 towards London.
  • Proceed along the A3 to Tolworth.
  • Use the exit slip at A240 Tolworth Interchange and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto the A240 towards Reigate.
  • Continue onto the A24 at Organ junction.
  • At the A24 Ewell By-pass roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A240 towards Reigate.
  • At the A240/A217 Burg Heath junction, turn right at the traffic signals onto the A217 towards Reigate.
  • Follow the A217 back to the M25.
  • At M25 J8 (Reigate Hill Interchange), take the 1st exit to re-join the M25 at J8.
