Barau FC head coach Ladan Bosso has defended the team's slow start to the 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Maliya Boys have achieved two wins, two draws, and five defeats in their first campaign in the NPFL.
They currently hold the 18th position on the NPFL table with a total of eight points.
Bosso is confident that the Maliya Boys will enhance their performance in the upcoming matches.
“We are working with players who are just beginning their careers; we retained nearly all the players that secured promotion for Barau FC, and they will need time to adapt to the demanding nature of the NPFL,” Bosso explained to Barau FC’s media.
“From my experience with Bayelsa United, we also had a slow start, but once we figured things out, we climbed higher on the table. The quality of players here is better than those at Bayelsa United.”
Barau FC is set to face Wikki Tourists in a matchday 11 fixture this weekend.
