Kwankwaso was right, no visible development in north under Tinubu – Babachir Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has thrown support behind ex- Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who recently criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the alleged marginalization of northern Nigeria in federal infrastructure development.

Speaking on Sunday Politics, a Trust TV programme, Lawal decried the absence of visible federal projects in the region.

He said Kwankwaso was right, and any contradictory statement is a figment of the imagination.

“No projects are going on-at least they are not visible to the eye. Maybe in their imagination, maybe in the spirit-but we don’t see it.”

Babachir Lawal added that: “We don’t see any construction work. We don’t see any infrastructure going on. No federal government project whatsoever.”

He said as an expert, Kwankwaso was right to accuse the government as he knows what he was talking about.

“Kwankwaso, remember, is an engineer too-so he, like me, like David Umahi, who’s an engineer too, the way we see things - physical things-the way we see them differently,” he explained.

“So, Kwankwaso knows what he’s talking about. And it doesn’t need to be Kwankwaso to say what he said. Every sensible - honest Nigerian will know that the north is being marginalized.”

He also went ahead to accuse the Tinubu administration of not only neglecting the north but also undoing some of the region’s hard-won gains.

Babachir Lawal believes this would make the APC lose it’s grip on the North ahead of the general polls.

The federal government in it’s earlier response has accused Kwankwaso of trying to mislead the north.

It said there’s massive infrastructure being built in the region.
