Major change to kids’ vaccinations as free flu jabs for toddlers to be available in pharmacies for first time

TODDLERS can get free flu vaccines from pharmacies for the first time this year, as well as from GP practices.

England’s chief nurse Duncan Barton said: “Flu can make young children and toddlers seriously unwell, so we’re making it easier than ever before to get the vaccine closer to home.

“I urge all to bring their children forward.”

Parents and eligible patients can book vaccinations on the NHS app or website, or through their practice.

Claire Nevinson, superintendent pharmacist at , which will offer the vaccines, said: “The best time for your child to have the flu vaccination for maximum protection is in the autumn months before the virus begins to circulate widely.

“It usually takes around 10 to 14 days to be protected, so it’s best to book them in as early as you can.”
