McLaren will win the 2025 constructors’ championship in Azerbaijan if they are 346 points ahead of the second-placed team by the end of the race in Baku.
Here is how Piastri and Norris can achieve glory for the Woking team:
- Outscore Ferrari by nine points or more
- Not be outscored by Mercedes by 12 points or more
- Not be outscored by Red Bull by 33 points or more
Should McLaren achieve their eighth 1-2 finish of the season, they would be guaranteed the title.
Second and third place for Piastri and Norris would also be enough if neither Charles Leclerc nor Lewis Hamilton wins the race.
Should McLaren win a 13th race and the other driver is forced to settle for third, that would also wrap up the title.
Would McLaren break a record if they win the F1 constructors’ championship in Azerbaijan?
Should McLaren win the constructors’ championship in Baku this weekend, they would become the first team to claim the title with as many as seven race weekends remaining.
Red Bull currently hold the record for their exploits in 2023, when they wrapped up the constructors’ championship with six races remaining.
McLaren will also have their eyes on the record points tally set by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez two years ago.
Red Bull finished on a whopping 860 points, while the Woking team are currently on 617 and are on course to beat that total.
