Antonelli only turned 20 in August, racing in just his second season this year.

He would also beat out seven-time champion , who won his first title in 2008 at 23 years and 300 days.

Defending world champion isn’t in contention for the crown this year after a tough year with McLaren, though the Brit did win two races in Hungary and the Netherlands.

The are also leading the Constructors’ Championship with just five races left this year – Toto Wolff hasn’t claimed the teams’ title since 2021.

How can Kimi Antonelli win the F1 World Championship this weekend at Mexico City GP?

Last week in the US, Antonelli needed multiple things to fall his way if he was to win the title in Austin.

However, this week it is much more simple.

To clinch the championship, he simply needs to score two points in the Mexican capital – this will be achieved by finishing ninth or higher.

If Antonelli falls out of the points completely, he can still win the title if Russell or Hamilton do NOT win the race.

Following this week in Mexico City, there will be four races left of the season in Brazil, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi where a maximum of 100 points will be up for grabs.

When could Mercedes win the Constructors’ Championship?

The Silver Arrows could also win the teams’ title this weekend, but the odds of doing so are much higher than Antonelli’s.

To clinch the title, they need to outscore Ferrari by 39 points – this would require both of their drivers being at least on the podium along with a horrific night for both of the Prancing Horses.

Mercedes currently sit 133 points ahead of Ferrari with 172 points on the table following this week.

Next week in Brazil is the first proper opportunity they will get to seal the deal as they need four fewer points than this week.

Ferrari have not let the race dwindle away though, they have outscored Toto Wolff’s side in each of the last three races.
