Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially declared the Accord Party as his new political platform in preparation for the 2026 governorship election.
The governor made this announcement at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo on Tuesday, in the presence of both national and state leaders of the party.
Adeleke disclosed that he officially joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after several weeks of consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders throughout the state.
A statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, quoted the governor stating that stakeholders in Osun are already informed about the reasons for this political shift.
Adeleke explained that his decision was motivated by the party’s ideological alignment with his administration’s commitment to welfarism.
“We chose the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism resonates with our strong focus on the welfare of citizens and workers,” he stated.
While welcoming party leaders to the Government House, the governor stressed the importance of unity as preparations ramp up for the 2026 governorship election.
“We are united in progress and goodwill for the benefit of the people of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole,” he remarked.
He encouraged members to foster cohesion and work collaboratively towards victory, highlighting the need for inclusive leadership that considers the interests of all groups.
Reflecting on his experience since joining the Accord Party, Adeleke expressed that he has been inspired by the party’s philosophy.
“The focus on the welfare of the people should always be at the core of public leadership. The fundamental purpose of government is to ensure the welfare and well-being of its citizens,” he noted.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the lives of residents through policies and programs focused on citizen welfare.
He also introduced the Accord Party as the new political vehicle for the state, urging residents from all regions—Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central—to support this platform.
“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede, and beyond, this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year,” he declared.
Adeleke concluded by formally announcing his realignment:
“In alignment with the will of our stakeholders and in deep respect for the wishes of the people of Osun, I hereby declare for the Accord Party,” he proclaimed.
