TEENAGER Stan Moody couldn’t conceal his frustration after missing what seemed like a straightforward shot during his defeat to Joe O’Connor at the Scottish Open.

Moody, who celebrated his 19th birthday in September, was in disbelief after missing a clear opportunity at the black ball, raising his arm in exasperation before striking his cue against the table.

The Halifax-born player displayed a rare moment of emotion at the table, but he is not expected to face any disciplinary action for his behavior.

Things deteriorated further for Moody as he squandered a two-frame lead, eventually losing 5-4 to O’Connor in the first round of the Scottish Open.

Both players displayed excellent skills in a match that truly warranted a final-frame showdown, but Moody’s strong start ultimately went unrewarded.

O’Connor quickly erased Moody’s early advantage with impressive runs of 127 and 90.

A third consecutive frame for O’Connor put him ahead with two frames remaining.

Moody managed to rally back, pushing the match to a deciding frame where he took risks.

In the end, however, it was the more seasoned O’Connor who maintained his composure.

Moody felt frustrated when two foul-misses left him with no choice but to take desperate shots as he faced impending defeat, which was evident in his demeanor.

O’Connor’s reward is a matchup against world champion Zhao Xintong in the second round.

Moody has ample time to make his mark in the sport, but the legend has already praised the young talent.

Moody is already in his third season as a professional and has drawn comparisons to the teenage sensation.

He shared with the World Snooker Tour: “I have a long way to go to be a Luke Littler in snooker, but I’m making progress.

“I aim to be in the top 32 by the end of the season and to advance further in tournaments. I’m doing fairly well.”
