Former Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick, has tipped Liverpool to recover from their current dip in form and challenge for the title this season.

The former England international was upbeat about the Reds’ chances of bouncing back from their third consecutive defeat in the Premier League.

The Reds’ latest loss came against Manchester United last weekend, their fourth straight defeat in all competitions, as they fell 2-1 to the Red Devils, who had not beaten them at Anfield for almost a decade.

Arne Slot’s men have now dropped to fourth place in the league, three points behind Arsenal and two points above ninth-placed Manchester United after eight matches.

“I think they’re playing well enough,” Carrick said on Premier Productions.

Carrick, a former Manchester United interim manager, said the Reds still have time to get back on track after their poor run of form.

“I also think the timing of the season when you have that blip is massive,” Carrick said.

“The finishing line is a long, long way away yet. If this was February or March and they were coming towards the end, there’s a fragility there.

“I think there’s more than enough time to put a run together before the end of the season. I think they’ll get through it, there’s plenty of time, plenty of football to go, and enough good signs for Liverpool to march on.”

Liverpool will look to bounce back and secure their first win after four losses when they travel to Brentford this weekend.

Former Newcastle United star, Alan Shearer, has already predicted a win for the Reds against the Bees, saying, “I think they might actually take the points…”
