Former Taraba Central Senator, Abubakar Yusuf, has revealed the major issues affecting Nigeria’s budget.
Speaking during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Thursday, Yusuf said massive splurging is one of the major issues affecting the budget.
He said that the nation’s budget ought to have been a surplus budget, lamenting that all the budgets have been deficit financing budgets.
According to him, the government is spending on what it does not need.
“One of the basic problems is that, before the budget, you should have a plan. The endless system we have been operating has been, you budget before you plan.
“So that has been the major issue. If you give me an envelope which is contrary to my plan, whether it is plus or minus, then I’m going to implement it in my plan and then it’s bound to fail,” he said.
