users have been told to update their devices to protect themselves from hackers looking to gain access to their phones.
The company has been issuing multiple updates to its old iOS versions over the last few weeks.
This was done to overcome weak points in the system that allowed hackers to silently take over people’s iPhones.
A hacking technique called DarkSword is a common tool used by hacker groups to commit data and cryptocurrency theft.
When news of the vulnerability came out, rolled out a stream of updates to protect its customers from the digital attacks.
But the company has warned that devices running on iOS 18 that are compatible with 26 are vulnerable.
Nearly a quarter of iPhone users were still using iOS 18 at the beginning of this year, with many of their devices compatible with iOS 26.
Apple has said that if your phone has the auto-update setting on, check if it has received the iOS 18 version that is patched against DarkSword.
If you do not have the auto-update setting on, it is recommended to update your device to the latest iOS 18 version or to iOS 26.
iOS 18 users with devices incompatible with iOS 26 do not need to fear as Apple had already rolled out an upgrade last year to protect users from the DarkSword.
