ADC coalition: Peter Obi, others have realised themselves – Kachikwu vows to stop Atiku

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2023, Dumebi Kachikwu, has claimed that it is now clear to 2027 presidential aspirants Peter Obi and the others that the coalition movement is being packaged for former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

For this reason, according to him, the likes of Peter Obi and the rest of them are now looking in other directions.

Peter Obi has not left the Labour Party yet and had, in a recent interview, maintained he is still a member of the party.

The Labour Party faction loyal to the former Anambra State governor, and led by Usman Nenadi, recently said it is not aware of any coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This factional Interim National Secretary of the party, Darlington Nwokocha, stated this on Friday, despite Obi being seen at different gatherings of the coalition.

He maintained that the LP was not part of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition.

Mr. Peter Obi himself had recently declared that he will contest the presidential election come 2027, and this further creates doubts about the survival or longevity of the coalition.

Kachikwu, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, vowed that he would reclaim the ADC.

“Like I’ve said, I warned, the whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

“And I’m still warning people about what’s happening. We can see what’s happening within the coalition. Someone like Mr. Peter Obi now understands that that whole coalition was packaged for Atiku.

“From our understanding, what we are seeing now is that he’s looking in other directions, you know, and other people who want to run, who are aspiring to run, now realize that the coalition was indeed no coalition.

“It was just a vehicle for ambition. But I still say this: the ADC will never be the vehicle for that ambition.”

Asked if he has the capacity to stop a storm that does not look like it’s going to be stopped, Kachikwu added, “The storm has already been contained.”
