The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term on Tuesday.
This endorsement took place during a meeting held in Victoria Island, Lagos, where party stakeholders gathered.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu initiated the motion to support Tinubu's second term, which was seconded by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
Sanwo-Olu stated: “Our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, previously served as the 12th governor of Lagos State.
“We have heard from all our stakeholders present today. By unanimous agreement, we will have someone propose the motion and another person to second it.
“All representatives of the stakeholders on this stage have reached a consensus that President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should be presented by this assembly as the candidate for Lagos State APC for his re-election.”
“I will ask one of our traditional rulers to propose the motion, and I will request the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly to second it, ensuring an inclusive discussion.”
When moving the motion, the traditional ruler of Ikorodu, Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, remarked, “We endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. Therefore, I propose the motion.”
In support of the motion, Obasa commented: “Considering the contributions from all stakeholders and the motion just presented by our Royal Majesty of Ikorodu, I hereby second the motion from my colleagues in Lagos State and the people of Lagos. I so second.”
In response, Sanwo-Olu noted: “The motion has been properly proposed and seconded. I trust that this message will reach Aso Rock, the Villa, and all corners of this great nation.”
