Aminu Shehu, an aide to Zamfara West Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has denied reports that the former governor of Zamfara State claimed President Bola Tinubu is ‘caged’ within the Presidential Villa.

However, Shehu stated in a press release on Wednesday that the senator was misquoted, labeling the reports as false information and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension.

According to him, Yari praised Tinubu in his remarks and called for unity among Nigerians. He added that Yari emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to restoring stability and promoting development throughout the nation.

“Yari expressed that Tinubu is diligently working, receiving comprehensive updates from all key sectors of the nation because he is determined to advance Nigeria,” Shehu noted.

Shehu also mentioned that Yari pointed out in his remarks that the President is deeply involved in addressing the nation’s challenges and is dedicated to finding solutions that benefit all citizens.

“Yari further explained that many of the issues facing Nigeria are self-inflicted and necessitate collective responsibility to resolve,” Shehu quoted the former governor as saying, “This is because much of the chaos was caused by us, but we need to unite.”

Continuing, he shared that Yari personally informed Tinubu that he would be attending the One Nigeria Project Conference.

“I was with the President in the evening and told him that I would be here, and if he has time, he should observe what we are doing. I believe this organization deserves support,” Shehu quoted Yari.

He emphasized that Yari also addressed the negative comments often directed at Tinubu, stressing that many of the criticisms come from individuals who should be more informed.

“The issue is with the elite. There are individuals disparaging Tinubu. You criticize him because you know the problem better than the truth,” he further quoted Yari as saying.

According to him, Yari underscored that honesty, accountability, and patriotism are essential to propel the country forward.

“Yari concluded that achieving ‘One Nigeria’ demands a unified purpose, collaboration, and a shared commitment to growth and development.”

Yari’s statements sharply contrast with the “false” claims circulating online, Shehu added.
