Wike gives Land Use defaulters 30 days to pay N5m penalty

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has issued 30 days ultimatum to those who violated the Land Use policy within the capital city.

Wike ordered defaulters to pay a N5 million penalty fee for violating the policy, adding that the ultimatum starts from September 10, 2025.

In a public notice, the minister also listed the streets where landowners have defaulted.

The notice reads: “This is to notify the general public particularly allottees/title holders of properties that the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON has approved a reviewed Land Use/Purpose Clause of properties on the underlisted streets/locations of the Federal Capital City (FCC):

1. Gana Street, Maitama District
2. Usuma Street, Maitama District
3. Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Asokoro District
4. Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II District
5. Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, Wuse II District
6. Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Garki II District
7. Gimbiya Street, Garki II District
8. Onitsha Street, Garki II District
9. Ogbomosho Street, Garki I District
10. Lafia Close, Garki I District
11. Yola Street, Garki I District
12. Abriba Close, Garki I District
13. Danbatta Street, Garki I District
14. Ringim Close, Garki I District
15. Ilorin Street, Garki I District.

“All affected allottees/holders of properties who, without approval, converted the land use of their properties on the above listed streets/locations, having violated the terms and conditions of grant of the Right of Occupancy, are hereby given thirty (30) days from Wednesday, 10th of September, 2025 to pay a PENALTY/VIOLATION FEE of Five million Naira (₦5,000,000.00).”

The minister directed all allottees and title holders to visit the FCTA Department of Land Administration with the originals of their documents to collect their respective letters of conveyance of approval.
