A MAJOR motorway has been closed after a Warburtons lorry overturned, leaving bread strewn across the carriageway.
The A1(M) is shut in both directions within J61 near Durham as drivers are warned of 50-minute delays.
The lorry has flattened the central reservation barrier as National Highways scramble to overturn the HGV.
A spokesperson said: “The A1M both directions within J61 near Durham.
“The road remains closed due to an overturned lorry.
“The lorry is resting in both carriageways and has flattened the central reservation barrier.
“There are 50 min delays north and 40 min delays south.”
