The yet-to-be-confirmed chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has committed to reviewing logistics during elections.

Amupitan made this statement on Thursday while responding to questions during his screening at the Senate.

He expressed concern that some vehicles used to transport sensitive materials during elections are in poor condition.

Amupitan recalled that in 2023, when his wife served as a collation officer, they had to rely on a generator due to a power outage.

“My wife was a collation officer; we had to provide a generator because there was no electricity,” he stated.

According to DAILY POST, Bola Tinubu, during the last National Council of State meeting on October 9, nominated Amupitan.

This nomination by the president came after Professor Mahmood Yakubu completed his two terms in office.

Tinubu, in a letter read by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary on October 14, officially requested the Senate to confirm Amupitan.
