The seaside along the Durham coast is stunning and unspoilt – with some of the best sea views in the country.
This very underrated stretch has huge, sweeping beaches, sand dunes and the Crimdon Dene Holiday Park is just minutes away.
The resort has entertainment on-site, an adventure playground and an indoor, heated pool if the weather isn’t on your side.
If you want to venture further afield, Hartlepool and Durham are a short drive away.
There, you’ll find everything from historical sites to white water rafting and adventure parks.

Holiday park on one of UK’s best beaches from £13pp a night
Haven in Greenacres, North Wales
This Haven holiday village is renowned for having one of the most beautiful beaches of all the 38 Haven parks around the UK.
The resort is on Black Rock Sands – two-and-a-half miles of sandy unspoilt beach.
If that’s not fairytale enough, there is a castle at either end of the beach.
From the park you can see Criccieth Castle to the left and Harlech Castle to the right.
There are walkways directly from the holiday park onto to the beach – it really is that close.
Load up a camper for the day and find yourself a spot – it’s never overcrowded.
Haven say the longest walk to the beach from any caravan is less than 10 minutes, and the water here is calm and shallow, so it’s ideal for children to paddle and play.
If you go for a longer stay, book a ticket on the nearby Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog.
The journey takes you through Snowdonia National Park and you’ll ride past the foot of Mt. Snowdon.

Quiet but stunning beach on your doorstep from £12.70pp a night
Hoseasons, Sand Le Mere in East Yorkshire
Hoseasons Sand Le Mere is one of The Sun’s top UK holiday camps with fantastic facilities and truly great prices.
It overlooks the beautiful Tunstall beach , which is just a short hike down the coastal path where you can search for pebbles and dip your toes into the sea.
The beach, which is a mix of sand and shingle, is not as busy as further along the coast where the sand is more accessible from the promenade.
This means you have plenty of space to relax and the park is nearby so you can easily head back for lunch and to enjoy the resort.

There is still time for a heatwave summer and if it ever comes, this is the place to be.
The resort has a massive indoor pool, with a lazy river and fun waterslides.
Or, if you want to top up your tan, the holiday park also has a sprawling outdoor Lido with a splash pad for younger children and an outdoor pool.
In the summer, it hosts pool parties for the whole family and shows movies on a large outdoor screen.

There is direct access to the beach from the resort and it also has an indoor swimming pool, big outdoor playground, sports pitches and a clubhouse with bars and restaurants.
As well as nearby Snowdonia National Park, thrill-seekers can try out the 500ft high zipline at Zip World and the Welsh Mountain Zoo.

Butlins Bognor Regis (Steven Mulhern weekend)
Butlins is one of the most popular holiday camps in the UK for families and its easy to see why.
So much is included with your stay including West End-style shows, kids entertainment, pools with waterparks and slides, enormous playgrounds and fairground and more.
