The Chinese government has expressed its strong support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu in light of military action threats from United States President Donald Trump.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, stated that China firmly opposes any nation using religion and human rights as a pretext to meddle in the internal affairs of other countries, as well as threatening them with sanctions and military force.

Ning was responding to a question regarding Trump's military threats towards Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

“As Nigeria’s comprehensive strategic partner, China strongly supports the Nigerian government in guiding its citizens on a development path that aligns with its national conditions,” she emphasized.

“China firmly opposes any nation using religion and human rights as a guise to interfere in the internal matters of other nations, and to threaten them with sanctions and force,” Ning reiterated.

According to DAILY POST, Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, shared China's response on his X account on Tuesday.

Onanuga has consistently represented the Presidency in denying any form of religious discrimination or persecution in Nigeria.
