Cypriot First Division club Aris Limassol are targeting a summer move for Nigerian defender Leon Balogun.

Balogun was released by Scottish Premiership giants Rangers last month following the expiration of his contract.

The 36-year-old is now on the verge of joining Aris on a free transfer, according to Thema Sports.

The centre-back featured in 20 league matches for Rangers last season.

Although Balogun expressed a desire to extend his stay at Ibrox, his wish was not granted.

He is now set to reunite with his former Rangers teammate Connor Goldson at Aris.

The Light Brigade finished fourth in the Cypriot League last season.

Artsyom Radzkow’s side have won the league title once.
