The tenure of Hicks and Gillett at Anfield was overshadowed by financial troubles, and they were largely disliked by fans.

They departed after accumulating debts of £237 million and failing to fulfill promises regarding a stadium renovation.

A statement released by the Hicks family reads: “Of all his achievements in his remarkable life, Tom Hicks’s most cherished title was ‘Dad.’

“Regardless of the challenges he faced in life, he was unwavering in his generosity and love for his family.

“He continues to be a guiding force for our family, and we are deeply honored to carry on his legacy.

“Although we are heartbroken by this loss, we are incredibly grateful to have been his children.”

Hicks reportedly passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday.

The Texas-born investor also owned the NHL team the Dallas Stars for 16 years, as well as the Texas Rangers baseball team for 12 years.
