There has been a significant withdrawal of police escorts assigned to very important personalities (VIPs) in Kwara State, according to DAILY POST.

This action is in accordance with the directive issued by President Bola Tinubu to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun.

The Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, shared this information during a conversation with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Sunday.

He stated that “the compliance is extensive,” noting that no violations have been reported thus far.

Sources within the police command revealed that, apart from the governor and his deputy, who have retained their police escorts, all other political office holders have had their escorts removed.

According to sources, requests for protection are now being redirected to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

However, DAILY POST has learned that the NSCDC is also experiencing a shortage of personnel, which limits its ability to fulfill the high demand for security escorts.
