The Rossoneri are yet to lose in their opening four league fixtures, and currently sit sixth in the table with eight points.

But the outfit hit choppier waters when they welcomed in European competition on Wednesday.

Benfica, managed by former boss , defeated the Italians 2-0 – and while the result was far from catastrophic, it did produce some questions for the Portuguese Milan boss.

And after one particular period of media probing, broadcaster Adam Summerton was left thoroughly unimpressed with his comments.

He wrote to X: “One of the best things could do right now is stop talking. He says way too much.”

The fiery comments come after Amorim was asked on Sky Italia by legend if he felt his squad was poorly suited to his intense style of play – an issue he faced at .

The 41-year-old responded: “I think you are a little bit right. I know at Manchester United and Milan, two big clubs with the pressure to win, people expect everything in just a few months, and I feel the same pressure here.

“I think this team is a little bit different, they are more accustomed to working with three defenders, they are a little bit faster, a little bit stronger.

“Of course, I don’t have the clear characteristics that are perfect at this moment, but it is impossible when you take on a new team to have those perfect characteristics right away.”

But despite Amorim’s confident tone that he will be able to imbue his side with the right fighting spirit, he went on to admit the possibility of failure, and even hinted he was not sure how long he would get in the role.

He explained: “I know it will take time, but I also know that there is big pressure at this club, yet I prefer this kind of job because if I need to fail one day, I want to fail big.

“I have a lot of passion for this club, I want to help this club to be better, I don’t know if I will have the time, but I look at my players and I think they are listening to everything that I say in training, and that gives me hope we can solve these problems.”
