This year’s celebration is themed “The Rebirth of the Tiv Nation.”
Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu emphasized that culture is a vital element that shapes identity and enhances the sense of belonging among people.
He stated that cultural heritage acts as the thread that binds communities together, preserving their traditions, values, and history for future generations.
The President commended the Tiv people for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development, as well as their courage during the civil war in upholding the unity of the nation.
He also joined the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse, the Tiv Area Traditional Council, and Tiv sons and daughters worldwide in prayers for a peaceful and successful celebration. Additionally, he prayed for the long life, good health, and divine wisdom of the Tor Tiv as he continues to lead his people.

He remarked, “We still remember your visit after the recent violence in the state and the positive measures you have taken to enhance security in Benue.”
The Tor Tiv also praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for providing the financial and moral support that made the celebration possible, noting that the event had been postponed for several years due to insecurity.
He stated, “As we celebrate during this occasion, let us heal from the social and political wounds we have inflicted on ourselves, both consciously and unconsciously.”
