The All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned the African Democratic Congress, ADC, over its recent criticism of the state burial given to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released on Saturday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, he described ADC’s reaction as “insensitive,”; “unacceptable,”; and “politically motivated.”;

APC accused the opposition party of attempting to exploit a national moment of grief for political gain.

“The party’s criticism of the dignified state burial accorded the late President is as spooky as it is unconscionable,”; Morka said.

“The ADC has once again shown itself to lack empathy and understanding of customary state practices.”;

According to the statement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu acted appropriately by honouring his predecessor with a state burial and by supporting the grieving Buhari family.

“What would the ADC have had President Tinubu do?”; Morka asked.

“Deny the late President Buhari the honour of a befitting state burial? Withhold empathy and support for the bereaved former First Family? As a party that can begrudge the dead, the ADC must surely disdain the living.”;

Morka further stated that ADC’s labelling of official tributes and state gestures as “political exploitation”; was unjustifiable and dishonourable, particularly during a period of national mourning.

He also emphasised President Buhari’s legacy as a former military Head of State, a democratically elected two-term President, and a devoted public servant.

“President Tinubu demonstrated compassion, patriotism, and leadership by overseeing and participating in the funeral rites of a man who gave so much to our dear nation,”; he added.

He further called on Nigerians to reject what he described as “the ADC’s brand of desperate opposition politics”; and to remain focused on national unity and development.
