Nigerian Government Claims 80% Drop in Terrorist Attacks in Southeast

The Nigerian government announced on Wednesday that terror attacks in the Southeast have decreased by 80 percent.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this statement during a press conference in Abuja.

Idris noted that this achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of security personnel.

He also mentioned that many criminals have been neutralized, with a significant number arrested in the Northcentral region.

“In the Southeast, terror attacks have been reduced by nearly 80% due to the collective efforts of our security agencies,” he stated.

“In the North-Central, numerous criminal elements have been neutralized, and many arrests have taken place,” Idris added.

Earlier, Idris pointed to foreign lobbyists as the individuals behind the widespread allegations of “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

He revealed that findings from the Nigerian government indicated a network of external actors, particularly in the United States, who are intentionally promoting divisive and misleading narratives about Nigeria’s internal security issues.

“The Nigerian government has observed a correlation between some of the lobbyists operating, especially in the US, and the activities occurring here (in Nigeria),” he explained.

There has been considerable outrage regarding reports of Christian genocide in Northern Nigeria, prompting President Donald Trump of the United States to threaten military action against Nigeria.
