IT may be an unconscious bias but being attracted to people who look like your parents is surprisingly common – even among celebrities.
has become the latest celeb to fall into the Oedipus complex trap, with his Posh ‘lookalike’ girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 29.
The slim brunette emulated style when she was pictured in Notting Hill, London, this week, wearing all black gym gear paired with a hat – a look favoured by Cruz’s designer mum.
It’s not the first time The 29-year-old songwriter has taken fashion inspiration from the former Spice Girl.
in March she was pictured wearing a navy satin gown almost identical to one worn by Victoria.
The songwriter has also been seen wearing a number of looks from Posh’s, in a sure sign she has had the star’s seal of approval.
But it isn’t just men fall for women who look like their mothers – there are plenty of female stars dating men who look like their fathers.
According to a study by A.C Little on Evolution and Human Behaviour, opposite sex partners usually have a “type”;; – and they tend look a lot like their parents.
It comes down to two particular features.
The eye colour of the opposite sex parent is the best predictor of both male and female partner eye colour.
Hair colour is also a strong predictor for both sexes.
