Spain hols hotspot rocked by earthquake with buildings shaking and tremors felt in over 50 towns

A STRONG earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 has struck southern Spain this morning.

The quake was felt in over 50 towns including the popular tourist region of Costa del Sol.

The earth movement was registered by Spain’s National Geographic Institute at 7.13am today.

The quake struck at a depth of over a mile off the coast of Almeria in southeast Spain.

The impact was mostly felt in the Axarquía region – especially Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar – as well as in parts of Málaga city.
