South Africa coach, Hugo Broos, has criticized the pitch of the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, describing it as “nonsense.”

Broos’ men will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Free State Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Both teams head to the game after beating Lesotho and Rwanda, respectively.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Broos was not pleased with the pitch where Bafana Bafana and Super Eagles will clash.

“I have said already before, I am not happy with the pitch either,” Broos told reporters about the venue for Nigeria vs South Africa game.

“There were people that blamed me that I didn’t want to play here [Free State Stadium], this is stupid.

“This is nonsense, we would like to have a very good pitch like we had before.”
