WHILE you’ve been engrossed in your favorite shows, Sky has been diligently enhancing your TV experience behind the scenes.

The broadcasting giant has introduced a variety of special features to your television this year that you may have overlooked.

Here’s a summary of some of the exciting new features you can try out today.

1. Reminder Notifications

First up, you can now set reminders on Sky Stream.

This feature will help you avoid missing that must-see TV show.

Simply navigate to a show's page and press the new “Set A Reminder” button.

This action will add the show to your Reminders list (which you can modify at any time).

Just before one of your reminder shows starts, a pop-up will appear at the top of the screen.

2. Netflix Games

While this feature wasn’t directly added by Sky, it is now available for Sky customers.

If you’re a Sky TV subscriber, you likely know that you receive Netflix as part of your package.

A few weeks ago, Netflix included a variety of games that you can enjoy.

These games are free with your subscription and are designed for multiplayer fun.

Everyone can log in using their smartphones as game controllers, allowing you to enjoy entertaining virtual games like Pictionary and Boggle.

It’s a fantastic alternative to traditional board games – just head over to the Games section of the Netflix app to find them.

3. Free Second Remote

Sky Q customers have had this feature for a while, but it has recently been extended to Sky Glass and Sky Stream users (since late 2025).

We’re referring to the virtual TV remote that you can access via your phone or tablet.

The app-based remote is incredibly useful for several reasons.

Firstly, if you’ve misplaced your actual remote, it can come to the rescue.

Additionally, it can settle disputes about who gets to control the TV remote. Everyone can join in!

You can use it to:

  • Navigate left, right, up, and down, along with an OK button
  • Pause and play
  • Access the home screen
  • Turn on/off
  • Interact with content
  • Enter channel numbers
  • Access settings
  • Open the full settings page
  • Go back
  • Add to playlist

The app is available on the App Store for iPhone and on the Play Store for Android.
