Sir Alex then went on to say: “I kicked the boot at his head. I mean, honestly, it was an absolute freak.”

Giggs also revealed that Barcelona once attempted to sign him from United – but he was not told at the time.
He said: “When Salford played in the FA Cup third round in January, me and Karl Robinson (Salford’s manager) went in after the game.
“We were speaking to and a couple of the sporting directors who were originally all at together.
“We were chatting for half an hour and as we were leaving one of them said, ‘We tried to sign you (for Barcelona) in 2000.’
“I went, ‘What?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, we rang Sir Alex Ferguson up and asked if we can sign Giggs.’
“I said, ‘Well, what did he say?’ Sir Alex told them to “f*** off.”
