"Robbers Bicker and Apologize to Shopkeeper During Hilarious Heist Gone Wrong"

THIS is the moment a pair of robbers squabble and swear at each other while using a knife and a fake gun during a shop raid.

The crooks, who stole cigarettes, and cash, used fake names and apologised to the shopkeeper before they left.

Footage of the incident shows Stephen Bradley, 56, and David Oakley, 48, walking into Maddy’s Store in on November 26 last year.

The dozy pair secured £4,000 worth of cigarettes, £200 in cash and nine bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey before squabbling over who should carry the stolen goods and apologising to the shop clerk.

They wore balaclavas and scarves to hide their faces and threatened the terrified shop keeper with a fake gun, ordering her to “fill the bag up now” with cigarettes.

One of the crooks is heard loudly telling the other in a thick scouse accent to “hurry up so we can get on the motorway to Liverpool” as they “have to get back soon” – despite living just five minutes down the road.

He also kept referring to his partner as ‘Charles’, which was later found out to be a fake name, as he loads up his backpack with expensive bottles of spirits

They then force the scared shop worker to empty the till before asking for help picking up the coins and telling her “we’re not gonna hurt you”.

But instead of making a clean getaway, the masked raiders started bickering over who would carry the loot with one of them refusing to put the cash in his pockets.

As they walk out the door, the man with a red striped scarf round his face turns round to the crying shop keeper to apologise.

He says: “Sorry love, sorry love – we really are. We’ll never come again and we’ll never hurt you.”

But ‘Charles’ and his accomplice were swiftly greeted at their door by and arrested within days of the robbery.

Bradley admitted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm, while Oakley pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a knife.

Both men were jailed for four years at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

In a statement, Derbyshire Constabulary said: “Two men who used a gun and a knife to threaten staff at a New Mills shop during a robbery have been jailed.

“Police were called after two men were seen running up Church Road on 26 November with balaclavas and what was believed to be a pistol.

“A second report was then received that an armed robbery had taken place at a convenience store in Church Road during which staff were threatened and £4,000 of cigarettes, £200 cash and nine bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey were stolen.

“The incident was captured on CCTV and Stephen Bradley and David Oakley were identified as the suspects by witnesses.

“The pair were located together at a property in New Street shortly after and arrested.

“Inside the house officers found a large amount of tobacco, nine bottles of Jack Daniel’s and a silver pellet gun.

“Bradley, 56, of New Street, New Mills, was charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

“Oakley, 48, of no fixed address, was charged with robbery and possession of a knife.

“Both admitted the offences at appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for sentence on 24 June when they were each jailed for four years.”
