Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called for prayers as his administration embarks on a fresh start.

The governor made the appeal during the first Sunday service following his reinstatement by President Bola Tinubu.

He worshipped at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in his hometown, Opobo, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, accompanied by his wife, Valerie, and several stakeholders.

While the church was celebrating its 2025 Harvest of Divine Possibilities, Governor Fubara noted that his visit was a quiet act of thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness to his family, Rivers State, and the nation.

Coinciding with the International Day of Peace, the governor also reminded citizens of the importance of sustaining peace.

President Tinubu had called off the state of emergency in Rivers State on September 17, 2025, directing the governor, his deputy and all members of the State Assembly to resume on September 18.

The state of emergency was imposed in the state on March 18, 2025, as a result of the political impasse in the state.

The political crisis stemmed from the clash between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The crisis led to a division in the State Assembly.
