Putin said that during an awards ceremony, one senior MP asked him to be “bolder” in Ukraine.
The Russian pariah said: “But the question arises: ‘Even bolder….?’
“And here…. there are risks, the price of which is losses on the battlefield for us.
“Therefore, we will act carefully, but persistently and consistently, pursuing the goals set for the country… and we will achieve them.”

Zelensky has said Putin is planning to mobilise some 500,000 troops after legislative elections scheduled for September.
Although the results will be rigged to reflect whatever the Kremlin spin doctors say, experts suggest it could show cracks starting to form in Russian public opinion.
But regardless of what the results show, Putin is planning to double down and put his foot on the gas by launching a huge mobilisation of troops.
The move may be a response to the recent at key Russian infrastructure over the summer.
The attacks have shifted momentum back in Kyiv’s favour, as Moscow’s progress on the frontline stalls.
Zelensky said Putin will only end the fighting once he is beaten.
The Ukrainian president told Sky News : “What we tried to do to make this challenge also for Russians; otherwise, they will not feel that the war is everywhere…
“That’s why we started to do everything to respond and to bring this war back to Russia, where it came to us… and that’s why we started our mid-strikes and deep-strike operations, just to respond.”
He also noted the harsh winter season that Ukraine may be about to embrace.
“If you will focus on the important things during this war, you have to understand, first, it’s a warrior, it’s a soldier,” he said.
“If you don’t have a soldier on the front, if he’s running back or if you think that you can use only drones and you don’t need soldiers, then you will fail.
“Because there [are] infiltrations of the enemy, and if you don’t have soldiers on the front, you will lose this territory, you will lose the village, and after the village you will lose the city.”
It comes as Kyiv has been putting its foot on Moscow’s neck with a series of .
