The disturbing video shows a man in uniform climbing up a flight of stairs and urinating in a doorway.
Footage, supplied to the BBC, shows the worker walking up to the door in the block of flats in Loughton and standing there for several seconds.
Royal Mail said it has launched an investigation into the incident.
The video was taken on Friday, 13 March just before 6pm in a residential two-storey block of flats.
A neighbour caught the moment on his doorbell camera and said he was “disgusted”.
When he went outside, after noticing a stranger on his doorbell camera, the man had left.
All that remained was a puddle of what he believed to be urine by the doorway of his storage room.
He then complained to Royal Mail and it said it had launched an .
A spokesperson for the organisation told The Sun: “We are looking into it as a priority.
“While we are still establishing the full circumstances, this is not the standard of behaviour we expect from our people.”
This isn’t the first time a Royal Mail postman has been caught urinating on camera.
