Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has referred to the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the last significant opposition voice in Nigeria.
Fayose made this statement on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a program aired on Channels Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
He emphasized, however, that no one will be able to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
“Tell me, who can defeat the APC? The only opposition I recognize in Nigeria is Obi. I’m not saying the opposition can win against Asiwaju, but the only opposition that still holds relevance is Obi; there is no one else,” he asserted.
“The only voice that resonates, that is still active and present, despite not being in government, is Obi. I commend him for that.
“However, I must point out that all others are merely filling the void. Atiku is filling the void, as are others, because people no longer pay attention to them,” Fayose concluded.
