JUST when you think Kim Kardashian cannot surprise us any further, she goes ahead and unveils her most outrageous Skims collection yet – a line of faux pubic hair thongs.

The collection features 12 colors, ranging from black to white and every conceivable shade in between.

The latest idea consists of G-strings made from mesh fabric with tufts of either curly or straight hair attached to the front — and they’ll cost you £34 each.

“This must be a very late joke,” commented one user after the collection launched online on Wednesday.

However, this is no joke. The thongs have already sold out, and there is a waiting list for eager customers.

We may laugh, but could these mini manes actually become popular?

Historically, whatever sells, shoppers tend to buy.

When Kim launched the brand in 2019, few believed it was possible to create something that was genuinely comfortable.

But she succeeded, and Skims has since dominated that market.

When she introduced the brand, she faced widespread ridicule.

However, the bra became a viral sensation, selling out and being restocked multiple times.

The reality star turned entrepreneur, who excels at selling us what we never knew we wanted, kicked off this new collection with a film reel that resembles a Seventies TV gameshow.

In it, the host asks, “Does the hair up there match the drapes down there?”, before glamorous female contestants reveal what’s underneath their skirts.

The website describes the thong as “our most shocking panty ever,” featuring the tagline: “With this iconic new panty, your carpet can be whatever color you desire.”

Understandably, many shoppers are perplexed.

One comment online noted: “The only way this makes sense is that they have undergone laser treatments for years and probably can’t grow their hair that way anymore.”

As far back as the 1400s, pubic wigs, or merkins, were used by women who had shaved their hair for hygiene reasons or to combat lice, and by sex workers to conceal signs of disease.

Now, one online commentator suggested these modern-day merkins could be for women who have lost their hair due to medical conditions or treatment.

As a savvy businesswoman, it seems Kim is capitalizing on the trend for more hair in that area.

Over the summer, the hashtag #fullbushinabikini gained traction on social media.

We have also seen merkins make their way onto the catwalks.

French designer Maison Margiela showcased models wearing what appeared to be pubic wigs under sheer tulle dresses.

After decades of being sidelined, the bush is undeniably making a comeback.

But is Kim’s £34 merkin a stroke of genius or a hair-brained idea? Our two writers weigh in . . .
