Over two decades later, recently revealed which could be launched following his live 2026 tour.

The show, which also featured and Dave Spikey, ran for two seasons and ended in 2002.

The sitcom was about the fictional Phoenix Club, a working men’s club in the North of England, and Peter played the lead role of Brian Potter.

Now fans are being given fresh hope that they will get to see Phoenix Nights once again – and this time on the big screen.

However, Peter has now revealed how if he was to bring the story back to life, he may consider using AI technology, and he explained why.

Speaking to Phoenix Nights co-star Toby Foster, who played Les Campbell, on his BBC Sheffield radio show, the comedian said: “Honestly I went on this chat GPT and I’ve asked a lot of questions about de-aging because what I’ve written there’s a lot of flashbacks.”

Toby then joked: “I don’t think we look a day older!”

To which Peter replied: “I know you don’t! God. I mean… I’m not talking about you, I’m talking about (using) AI to put hair onto Paddy’s head, that’s what I’m talking about!”

Toby quipped: “Nothing’s that good.”

Continuing with why he wanted to use AI, Peter said: “I thought, you know I don’t want to do makeup..

“So I’ve been looking and obviously they did that film The Irishman with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci and they made them all look younger and Al Pacino, but that was seven years ago.

“It’s got cheaper now, but as I’m just looking into it, it’s become a bit more like not as expensive.”

He then added: ” So I thought I just need to make sure it doesn’t look dodgy, but I’d love to do that.

“I mean I’m all right for Brian because I look older. Can you believe when I did Brian I was 26?”

Peter is referring to his lead role in Phoenix Nights where he played a much older man called Brian Potter who ran the club.

This new interview comes after .

He said on Capital Breakfast “I have written a film of Phoenix Nights.

“And it’s written and it’s done. But I’m waiting for the de-aging process to come into fruition.

“Because the storyline involves a lot of flashbacks to the past and I don’t want to be using really bad makeup to make people look young.”

He continued: “Seriously, when the tour is finished, I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve been looking at the capabilities of de-aging technology.”

NETFLIX BAN

While Peter is keen to get the ball rolling on the movie version of the show, he’s against the original hitting some streaming platforms.

During his Capital Radio interview, he revealed how had been in touch in the hopes of putting the two seasons of Phoenix Nights on its service – Peter even said the streaming giant even sent him an air fryer to sweeten the deal.

“I got [an air fryer] free from Netflix. They got in touch with me last year because they wanted to put Phoenix Nights on Netflix,” he revealed.

“They rang me up and said, ‘can we license some of your shows to put on Netflix?’ Anyway, they sent me a load of paperwork. Basically, it’s not very politically correct now. This was made in a time, do you know what I mean?”

Peter added: “I just said, ‘I’m not keen on that, I don’t really want a warning before it.’ So, I just said, ‘no, I’ll leave it.’ Anyway, they sent me an air fryer.

“I think that was trying to sweeten me.”
