“I’m very excited because Robin Roberts of Good Morning America and I are executive producing a movie,” Sherri told the outlet. “It’s my first starring role on TV.”
Lifetime movie Angel in the Rubble covers the true story of NYC transit employee Genelle Guzman-McMillan, the last survivor who was rescued from Ground Zero debris following the September 11 attacks.
“She was buried alive for 27 hours, buried under 13 feet of concrete,” Sherri said. “The film is about how she found God.”

She claimed friend Robin helped her get more money from the network than she was initially offered.
“A beautiful Black woman [Robin Roberts] came in and was like, ‘What? Yes,’” Sherri recalled. “So thank you, Robin.”
Sherri is also writing a novel, she told Hello Beautiful.
“I have a novel coming out called Life Is a K-Drama, because everybody who knows me knows my obsession with K-dramas and K-pop,” she said.
Sherri’s daytime talk show was canceled in February after four seasons on air.
The host was saddened by the sudden news.
“I know that you have seen the news, and I’m ready to address it,” she said on air.
“Our show has not been renewed for another season. I wanted to say to y’all, try not to faint or fall out, because healthcare is expensive and none of us have it anymore.”
But she ended with a positive note.
“It has been my dream to have a talk show, and I’m so grateful I had the chance to do it for four seasons,” she concluded.
Sherri has also been focused on getting fit, and recently dropped 50 pounds.
